The Chinese province of Sichuan has expressed strong interest in Castilla-La Mancha. On November 13, the region’s Second Vice President, José Manuel Caballero, represented the Government of Castilla-La Mancha at the Sustainable Development Subforum within the Cooperation and Development Forum for Sister Regions of Sichuan. During his visit, he also held a meeting with Pubu Dunzhu, Deputy Governor of Sichuan Province.

Acknowledging Sichuan’s interest in the economic potential of Castilla-La Mancha, the Second Vice President outlined the regional government’s policies aimed at attracting foreign investment. He emphasized that Castilla-La Mancha has emerged as Spain’s leading region in business confidence.

Key incentives for foreign companies include regional economic support measures and initiatives such as the Plan Adelante Empresas, which provides subsidies of up to €900,000 to foster sustainable and technological projects, particularly those focusing on environmental improvements in processes and products.

The Second Vice President also highlighted the region’s strategic advantages for investment: its prime location, excellent infrastructure, and extensive areas of competitive industrial land.

In addition, Castilla-La Mancha was presented as a sustainable tourism destination boasting a rich natural heritage, including national and natural parks, alongside a remarkable cultural, artistic, and historical legacy. The region’s UNESCO-listed heritage cities and internationally renowned events further enhance its appeal. Its diverse gastronomic and wine tourism offerings were also emphasized.

José Manuel Caballero underscored Castilla-La Mancha’s reputation as a producer and exporter of high-quality agri-food products, such as wine, olive oil, cheese, saffron, honey, game meat, and lamb. Notably, the region’s wine exports were highlighted, which exceeded 600 million € in August of this year, with China being one of the main importers.

Through this engagement in Sichuan, Castilla-La Mancha seeks to strengthen ties and attract investment, positioning itself as a dynamic and competitive partner on the international stage.
