The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has allocated more than 15 million euros to the improvement of archaeological parks, locations, and monuments open to visitors, all of which fall under the administration of the regional government. This announcement was made by the Responsible for Culture and Sports ahead of her participation in the conference ‘Conservation of Rural Heritage for the Promotion of Seasonal Tourism’, held in the historic town of Brihuega (Guadalajara).
During her address to the media at the event, the minister explained that this investment is drawn from various funding streams aimed at addressing the specific needs of these heritage sites. These include financial support for restoration and enhancement through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, as well as funding dedicated to the integration of virtual reality and subsidies under the Tourism Sustainability Plan.
Particular emphasis was placed on the Tourism Sustainability Plan, which focuses on 13 cultural assets across the region. Key initiatives within the plan include the creation of a network of cultural routes, website development, the launch of mobile applications, the promotion of digital content, the implementation of smart tourism systems, and improvements in accessibility.
This investment reflects a clear and determined commitment to the preservation and enhancement of Castilla-La Mancha’s rich heritage. Furthermore, it underscores the region’s dedication to promoting rural tourism—an essential driver of employment and economic development for many areas that rely on cultural tourism as a key economic pillar.
