The Castilla-La Mancha Minister for Culture has announced the successful reopening of the Merced Museum in Ciudad Real, following extensive restoration work on the building’s cornices. Although the museum has now reopened to the public, further enhancements to the main façade and side sections are still underway to ensure the structure’s long-term preservation and aesthetic quality.

The museum currently hosts the exhibition Prior: 70 Years of Painting Unveiling the Hidden Reality, which spans over seven decades of history through 60 carefully curated works. This collection comprises paintings and drawings that explore diverse themes such as human and urban landscapes, family dynamics, water, flamenco, and portraiture.

The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has emphasised the significance of the museum’s reopening, made possible through adaptation works supported by an investment exceeding 450,000€.

Admission is free until 31 December 2024.
