Castilla-La Mancha has increased its stellar constellation with the granting of three new MICHELIN stars to restaurants in the region and a Green Star, bringing to 11 the establishments that have this prestigious award throughout the region by 2023 for a total of 13 stars, plus a Green Star for Oba. The new stars of regional gastronomy are the Ababol restaurant, from Albacete; Ancestral, from Illescas (Toledo); and Oba, from Casas Ibáñez (Albacete), which will debut its first MICHELIN star next year and, in the case of Oba, also a Green Star.
The President of Castilla-La Mancha presided over the celebration of the 2023 MICHELIN Gala for Spain and Portugal at the Toledo Congress Center. In this act, the prestigious guide presented the novelties in the Gastronomic Stars for the year 2023.
Along with the new ones that enter to the prestigious MICHELIN Guide, continues with a star El Coto de Quevedo, in Torre de Juan Abad (Ciudad Real); El Doncel and Molino de Alcuneza, in Sigüenza (Guadalajara); El Bohío, in Illescas (Toledo); Roots, in Talavera de la Reina (Toledo); and Retama, in Torrenueva (Ciudad Real). On the regional list, with two MICHELIN stars, continue the restaurants Maralba, in Almansa (Albacete); and Iván Cerdeño, in Toledo.
At the end of the gala, the regional government congratulated all the restaurants and professionals that are part of the prestigious MICHELIN family in Castilla-La Mancha, not only the restaurants recognized with a star but also those that occupy a prominent place in the new guide in the different categories, such as Bib Gourmand, as well as the recommended dishes and restaurants.
To all this good news for the economy and gastronomy of Castilla-La Mancha we must add the recent designation of Cuenca as “Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2023”. This choice makes the city a clear benchmark in terms of gastronomic tourism, an increasingly consolidated sector.
