The Regional Minister for Education, Culture, and Sports emphasised the regional government’s strong commitment to cultural heritage. An investment of eight million euros has been allocated to enhance energy efficiency, digital transformation, accessibility, and other significant improvements within Castilla-La Mancha’s archaeological parks and sites.
Visits to the network of archaeological parks, sites, and monuments open to visitors in Castilla-La Mancha have now exceeded 306,000 in the last five years. The minister provided this figure during the signing ceremony of a management agreement for archaeological sites in Cuenca province. This agreement supplements the ongoing management provided by the provincial authorities for the Segóbriga Archaeological Park.
Castilla-La Mancha’s archaeological parks and sites rank among the region’s most popular attractions. Notably, the Roman archaeological sites of Noheda and Ercávica alone have attracted almost 90,000 visitors.
Castilla-La Mancha is home to numerous outstanding archaeological treasures. A prime example is the Noheda mosaics, unique within Roman Hispania due to their exceptional figurative design and remarkable scale. The mosaics feature a coherent narrative sequence, integrating mythological themes, various games, and references to literary and theatrical genres.
